lingering, following, seeking eyes...
Battle to rake up some courage
To say hello and not give away..
To pretend that the lips can betray..
The hurt, screaming eyes...
Dabbing at the rain drenching inside..
Purposefully navigating the labyrinth of a festival..
To stay close but just staying away...
Falling in despair every time to realize..
There is nothing to say but for a Wistful smile...

I met her after a lifetime yesterday...

I've grieved for the people I never had
I've missed those places I never have been to
I've wistfully pondered over that unrequited love that never was
I've shed tears for those dreams that were never in my eyes
I've cried for all those losses
I've lived that unnamed numbness
I write...

I stare out of my balcony window
And I see the sprawling city below
With its many lights and noise
Like fairy lights and tin car toys
I wonder where you are among these
Probably lost like a leaf in a breeze
As you fade slowly into the city lights
Our love dissipates in my lonely sighs

She never quite knew
What she was looking for
She wish she knew
What cupid had in store
Will she star in a fairy tale
Or a romantic comedy?
Or will it be a love gone stale
And become an utter tragedy?
Her search for love
Resulted in broken hearts
And unfinished songs;
She held them both
Forever hoping that one day
Someone will come for her
One who will always stay

Missing mumma-made food all throughout our lives
Be it the hostels or in in-laws home
We try our best to satiate our taste buds by cooking something or other
But kitchen was never our first love
We were raised up in a way where studies prioritize everything
We know how to cook
But we don't want to
Or can't find time
It's okay once or twice
But we find it challenging to keep cooking as a routine
It's a kick to our self esteem
An irrational fear of getting locked in there forever
Like our mothers and grandmothers were made to

We are a generation of wistful women
We crave for our mothers who we will never emulate
