एक वक्त ऐसा भी था
जब तुम तो साथ नहीं थे बेसक
पर अकेले नहीं थे हम,
तुम्हारे एक खयाल में ही सही
पर तुम्हारे थे तो सही हम....

अनुभव कहता है,
खामोशियां ही बेहतर है।
शब्दों से लोग,
रूठते बहुत है।

मुझमें भी एक आशा की किरण बिखर रही थी।
मेरी भी प्रत्याशा थी कि वो इस दिल में निखर जायेंगे।

कभी सोचा न था, कि इस-कदर सब दूर होकर
मेरी आवारगी का सिलसिला बन मुझमें ठहर जायेंगे।

हर राह पे पैगाम आये थे जब चल रहा था अकेला मैं।
कोई आस न थी, कि वे भी मेरे गमों की बेड़ियाँ खटखटायेंगे।

बस फक्र था मुझे, कि कोई मेरे गमों पर मुस्कुराता है।
कभी न सोचा था कि लोग उस मासूम मुस्कुराहट को भी छीन जायेंगे।

रब ने क्या नजारा बनाया है इस जहाँ के हर दर्रे-दर्रे में
जहाँ देखो, हर तरफ खिलखिलाहट की गाथा गायेंगे।

मेरी एक पायल खो गई है कहीं, क्या बतायेगा कोई?
पता न था मुझे कि वे लोग मेरी कली को मुझसे चुरा ले जायेंगे।

मेरे दिल के पन्नों पर पड़े उसके दस्तख़त आज भी हैं।
"क्या वो रो रही होगी" सोचकर मेरे अश़्क भी सहम जायेंगे।

अब क्या गिला होगा मुझे, सबने तो मेरे लिए साज़िश रचे थे।
अब कहाँ है वो, क्या फिर से मेरे बाहों मे सोने आयेंगे।

क्या मैं हर बार पन्नों पर उतारी जाऊँगी,
बस यूँही लिखी जाउँगी,
क्यूँ इसी तरह मैं पुकारी जाउँगी,
या खुदा तेरी खुदाई अब ऐसे तरसाएगी!!!

मेरे दिल की अमीरी ऐसी है...
की वो जो भी मांगता...वो उसे मैं दे सकती थी!

मगर अफ़सोस की उसने मांगी थी इक ही चीज़ ऐसी...
की थे मेरे हालात मजबूर ऐसे...के बस वो उसे मैं दे ना सकी...
अब इसका मलाल ज़िंदगी भर रहेगा...!

हाय! ये अमीरी अब किसी काम की न रहीं!
