সম্ভাবনার গন্ধে ছুটে আসে ওরা -
চোখের কোণে মুঠোভর্তি নুন ঘষে প্রার্থনা করে রোজ,
একজোট হয়ে সমস্বরে 'ঈশ্বর ঈশ্বর' চিৎকার করে ওরা
জল-কাদামাটিতে মেশায় অনুতাপের আগুন বুঝি?
হ্যাঁ, ওই তো ওরাই...
ওরাই হাত নাড়িয়ে প্রমাণ করে ঈশ্বর আজও শোষিত।
মানুষ ইচ্ছে করলেই খাঁচায় আটকে রাখতে পারে পাখি,
চাইলেই ফুঁ দিয়ে স্বাহা করতে পারে অরণ্য আগুনে,
আঙুলের কারসাজিতে বন্দি করতে পারে মহামহিমকে,
মানুষ চাইলেই জঠোর ছিঁড়ে তৈরি করতে পারে রাতের খাবার।

তবে অসম্ভব এও নয় -
অস্পষ্ট একজোড়া অনুর্বর ঠোঁটেও
মেখে নেওয়া যায় একফালি উদার সমুদ্রের ঢেউ।
কেউ খবর নাই বা রাখুক, দুহাত তুলে অনাড়ম্বরে
ফুটপাথজুড়ে শৈবালদের গায়ে নরম বুলিয়েও দিতে জানে।
হ্যাঁ, ওরাই পারে ভাঙতে শেকল...
মাটির পুতুল দেখিয়ে যারা কথায় কথায় শাসন করে
ওদের চামড়া টেনে ছিঁড়ে নতুন কিছু বিধি বাঁধতে,
আপন খেয়ালে পাখি উড়ে বসুক ত্রিশূলে বা বাঁকা চাঁদে,
আঙুল মাখুক ললাটে শিখা, নাভির নীচের কলঙ্ক মিটুক।
