इसी मकान में कभी गूँजी थी किलकारियां,
तुम्हारे हँसने की, रोने की
यहीं से कभी आती थीं आवाज़ें,
खुशियों की, ठहाकों की
यहीं पर बांटी थी परीक्षा में पास होने पर मिठाइयां
और किया था गर्व से सीना चौड़ा

पर ना जाने आज वह किलकारियाँ,
वह हँसी सब कहीं खो गये हैं,
ये मकान अब उजड़ सा रहा है।
वह छाती जो कभी गर्व से चौड़ी हुई थी,
अभी भी यहीं है,
राह तकती हुई,
पर उसे गर्व से चौड़ा करने वाले नहीं हैं।

अब ये मकान थोड़ा उजड़ सा गया है।।

Two siblings. Both were sleeping since morning.
Woke up in evening. Ate something and then slept again.
One was suffering from fever. All family members were taking care of him, showering their love on him.
And at the same time, cursing the other one for being lazy. And taunting him for being worthless.
They don't even have idea that the other one was also sufferinng.
