Hope & Despair— % &The dreams I see you in ain't mere dreams, they're some sort of extended reality, or so I believe. I gather hope as if it were pieces of a broken pearl necklace but my fingers are sweaty like always and the pearls keep slipping off.

There's a vast desert of nothingness
surrounding me from all sides.
Barefoot, I traverse it's scorching empire
my path ending up in circles, always.
like boiling water in a teapot
my feelings rattle in pain,
they shriek and they whistle
but their voices die on the way.
I wonder if it's freedom or death–
which one is it that they seek.

Exhausted by their imprisoned screams,
I wait for all the water to evaporate
and eventually vanish without a trace.
for, I've come to fall in love again
this time with the colour of dead leaves.

So I wait for you like a lonely house,
my windows talking to the wind
in a voice that has begun to crack
'bout the emptiness that haunts me-
all day and night, all spring and winter,
I crave for a touch of yours– all the same.

Tell me it's just another dream,
carrying no meaning or prophecy,
tell me it's just another lie –
no longer white, not even grey
reality seems like a stained mirror
bent and broken, in places many,
distorting everything we see and believe.

// A short story

"Hold on! Wait up a little longer! "
I scream helplessly at the invading light;
a dying echo of my trembling voice
is all that I hear back, in return.
I feel my blanket being pulled away
leaving my insecurities bare & cold.
I curl up in a reluctant, shapeless ball
putting all my strength in being afraid
of the limits that keep dragging closer.
No– I'm not ready for the dawn yet
for 'sunset' is all that my heart
ever learnt to capture.

... And then, I think about you, the way you pick me up when I break into a million questions — slowly, silently and then, all at once. A vibrant smile covers by face; I tuck it in my heart, as a reminder to focus on what's still holding me together when I find my entire universe breaking apart.
