You see a youth overdosing on drugs,
You see a youth that's hitting the clubs,
You see a youth killing for politics,
You see a youth bullying for the kicks,
You see a youth in depression and agony,
You see a youth capable of horrendous monstrosity,

Yet, I see a youth fighting for their basic human rights,
I see a youth aiming at reaching new heights,
I see a youth sticking together through thick and thin,
I see a youth standing up to its kin,
I see a youth speaking up against abuse,
Yes, I see a youth that is proud of its roots.

Are we stepping out of the narrow lane that good girls are supposed to stay within?
Do you have a problem with us being confident in our skin?
Do you dislike that we are not quiet, obedient, agreeable, and available?
Do we not love being unapologetically sensational?
Are we sluts if we're loud, messy and don't behave?
And don't want to walk on the path that you pave?
And what about when we bend the rules at times?
Are we not humans if we colour outside the lines?
