do not cry
at the end of a bridge
the last thing it needs
is more corrosion

A Father says a sermon in goodbye
Another ties a turban in goodbye

A letter and a pen hope for the last kiss
But her lips touch a bourbon in goodbye

The new track or tarmac is always black
The emergence of grey shall determine goodbye

Either cotton wick or copper switch
There's nothing rural or urban in goodbye

A Hindu begins to hum the song of vidaai
Alvida is heard by a Muhammadan in goodbye

Did you know that
All the maps in the world
Are connected?

Look closely
They have dots and dashes for lines
Depicting how many times
Explorers rested in their
Respective journeys beyond
Their comfort zones

A map literally means that
Somebody has walked this path
Before you

They look like amoeba selfies
Because that's the shape of your fear
Before taking the first step

They have a key
Towards the bottom
To ease the travails
That existed above
And are now traced

In the map of the world
And all its greatness
You're the legend, my love

Ah! Language
Perhaps the only word
That encapsulates myriad others

The most beautiful thing
Is but a thing
The best person to walk this Earth
Will one day walk no more

But personification
And a metaphor
Shall save them both

A King and a Fakeer
Sit together on the table of language
One fasts on a prayer
The other eats on it

Ah! Language
Perhaps the only word
To encapsulate myriad others

If only one knew there's no end ever to be a poet,
Would they still take up the endeavor to be a poet.

My lines are always written over lines,
Teacher told me never to be a poet.

I seldom remember my own verses,
One has to be clever to be a poet.

I still get confused where to place my name,
The biggest dilemma ever to be a poet.

Thoughts you need to keep knitting ,
But words you need to sever to be a poet.

All my diaries now look the same,
It will take me forever to be a poet.

The word recipe
Itself sounds like
A concoction

The after-effect
Of throwing a stone
Into the salivary well

The foreplay of
Unready masala and oil
On the tongue

A sad song sung
By the gravy
On a tong

Recipes reside
Between the heart
And life line of a palm
Through generations

You my love
Are a recipe book

That last spray of perfume
The one with the pause
Is at your most vulnerable spot
Where you silently beg
To be kissed the longest
