पर अपने कमरे से बाहर आते ही मैं खुद को ही गुमनाम मिला

बड़ा स्वाभिमानी था मैं,और अहिंसावादी भी था
पर आँखे पथरा गई ज़ब मेरे भीतर ही मुझे एक सैतान मिला

सुख और दुख तो सभी कि जिंदगी के दो पहलू होते हैं
मैं कुछ खास था शायद, जो मुझे तन्हाई, बेवफाई, गरीबी, दर्द इन सब का भी खानदान मिला

पूछ लेना है मैंने अब, कि मुझे गरीब क्यों बनाया
जिस दिन मुझे पत्थर से बाहर ये भगवान मिला

बड़ी हिम्मत से सिर उठाकर ज़ब मैंने आईने मैं देखा
मुझे एक छोटा सा बच्चा आँखों मैं आंसू लिये बड़ा परेशान मिला

की इस शहर को छोड़ कर अब मैं हिमालय कि ओर चल दूंगा "आशीष "
अगर फिर कभी मुझे तेरी यादों से भरा ये मकान मिला

AN ODE TO COCKROACHES

Cockroaches, I can understand that
if you had our ears, you would
run at the screams of my little sister,
who screams like she had seen a monster
crawling on the walls of the washroom
when instead she had just seen you
strolling in the late evening
basking the glory of tubelight.

But me, I come from peace,
I'm not disgusted by your existence.
I do not get flabbergasted by your
occasional flying skills. Infact I,
say hi to you when I come to brush.

But you, you go haywire in fear.
Do you sweat? Is there something
equivalent to that, that you do?
You needn't, I wish I could talk
and tell you that I love you, and that
I do not want to kill you.

SUMMER DREAMS

Interminable sticky hug to a sheet or pillow
morning summer dreams, pseudo waking up,
Hammer of the sun, hitting the anvil,
a hard calloused hand trying to fight
the restlessness the heat irritates its cancer with

कदम जमीं पर हों, और उडा़न आसमान की हो जाए,
मैं अपना सारा आज लगा दूँ, ग़र कल मेरा नाम हो जाए।

TO BROTHER

You dear boy are not shy,
you do not reverse yourself at the back
of a room or a conversation, no.
You are just a little too patient,
and sometimes a little too impatient,
like little, innocent kids are,
and that is alright provided
that you keep listening.

You’ll find lavish and spendthrift
clocks, ticking their time in their
gold-laden surfaces without
really measuring themselves.

You are a little gullible,
and I hope that you
make your own ways, stand up
for your values, fight ignorance
with the highest knowledge,
you gain, you fight, you loose,
you stand up again, you ask for your
purpose on earth and you keep
asking why you’re doing what you’re.

May time make you more decisive
and take care of your health.

In the ocean was a drop of oil
not wanting to cease the boundary
but when the oil drop plummeted well
in the vast expanse of the profoundly
seamless ocean waves, and when it
hit the endless particles of water

is all there will be, and he melted
into the heart of the ocean, only to evaporate
so that part of it, could come back and
love the ocean like drops in the sea,
but also the parts of it which
didn't make it, had learnt already
Where ever they were now, were burnt already
in the love of knowledge of love, for love
is what there was
and love is all there is
