Any revolutionary idea- be it nationalism, capitalism, socialism, imperialism, humanism, universal education and healthcare, and so on-takes centuries to be conceptualized, developed, debated, tested, and to be accepted in theory, by intellectuals and then by masses.
It takes further generations to be implemented in practice, starting from its classical- to its neo- and neo-classical- avatars.
Therefore, the ideas that we cherish today, and take for granted, are not necessarily relevant for this day, and are anything but natural and commonsensical. We've been indoctrinated by the cumulative efforts of the elites of the older generations.
For instance, nationalism, which was useful earlier, was catastrophic for Europe in the 21st Century, and resulted in two World Wars.
Similarly, non-veganism and speciesism are ideas and practices, that have outlived their lives since their birth in the age of hunter-gatherers, being neither necessary nor useful, rather multidimensionally harmful, today.
Veganism, however, won't take generations to be conceptualized and practiced. In the age of globalisation and universal education, it can be that prodigy who must win over the old masters.
