I have seen them caged within the hands of their physically stronger counterparts,
within the amount of dowry their in laws ask for,
I have seen them caged within the red light areas,
under the veil that cover their bras and breasts,
or the garb they wear to medical shops and embarrassingly ask for sanitary pads.

Caged...

Wings which we can’t fly with,
Eyes which can’t see the desired things,
Dreams which can’t be fulfilled,
Life which can’t be lived up as per choice.
That’s not life.
That’s a cage.
We all are caged in societal barriers.

There's no bigger crime
than having talent
and keeping it
caged.

I'm tangled in my own musings,
Caged in my own mind,
Trying to transcend my clouded thoughts,
Struggling hard to untangle every knot.

I can't handle this frustration
I just wanna break out!
I'm fed up with everything
This is how I wanna shout!
I'm caged by his memories
Someone let me out!

The shackles held her down
As she screamed in pain
But no one was near to hear
Tired of the torture
She wanted it all to end
She wanted to end her suffering
But the shackles held her back
Stopping her from doing so
She didn't want to endure anymore
No one to lend her a shoulder to cry on
No one to wipe her tears
She wanted to end herself
She would rather be in real hell
Than in the hell, where she was held captive
And she snapped back into reality
Her body had no shackles on them
But her soul did, the shackles of fear
The fear of losing herself
But in the attempts to lose the fear
She had already lost herself
