"Desdemona to Othello "
(Othello accused Desdemona of being unfaithful to him and burst out of the room. Desdemona desired her attendant to make her bed. Before she retired to her bed she had written this letter to Othello).
O lord, what hath puddled thy spirit
To accuse me for infidelity!....
Doth thou forget I judge thy mind
Beyond complexion and felicity.
Is there an immediate call from Venice?
Or jealousy converted thy noble mind!
If not so, let me minister thee and
Let our hearts to be once more bind.
Let thy touch bestow the bliss,
Let thy story be devour my ears
O lord, do listen my last entreaty!
Let me die in my solitary tears.
