SNOW GLOBE
*************
Searching for something on a warm afternoon,
I emptied the cupboard I had long forsaken
Something in a corner softly clicked and crooned
I desired I had the music mistaken
My hands fumbled hastily for the snow globe
You gave to me in the Louisiana woods' frost,
For I could not hear this tune I now loathed
The one I used to sleep to, now an albatross
In winter you gave it to me while leaving,
Promising to be back when in the next snow slid
It's been nine summers and I've been vainly waiting
But neither came back the snowflakes, nor you did...
