I envy a child's laughter
arising from a happy place within.
The careless giggle
that displays
an absolute lack of worry.
The grin showing
the only loss,
of a tooth.
The freedom
that naturally comes to him,
and we struggle to maintain
as we grow
older,
caged by our own desires,
trapped in the thorny paths
the world tells us to walk on,
while we dream of green pastures,
sweating, crying, falling, bleeding,
struggling to rise,
forgetting to live.
I,
envy a child's laughter.
