Nine years, the pit and the rain,
I saw the clown behind the train,
Four people dead by the drain,
Inside those clenched fists, the pain,
And no one even near the stain
Attempting to erase it.
Sordid, the hands of the poor,
Derelict, the ferryman's whore,
Penalty by the gardener's door,
Empty, the dishwasher's score,
Not a preacher to scrub the floor,
And millions to praise it.
Inside the cage, pigeons dying,
Outside the cage, gunshots flying,
All over the world, singers sighing,
All over the hell, angels crying,
Behind the veil, politicians trying
To somehow haze it.
Oh, don't fear, if you feel
A bullet flying past your ear,
I'm only trying to graze it.
