We played each other
as many-stringed
instruments,
each strum sending out
good vibrations
(well played!)
and it was only
when we struck
a note that sounded off,
that we recognised
this chord, unfamiliar,
as discord.

No amount of tuning
will make it sound right,
and besides, when we
snapped, detached,
there were
no strings attached
anymore.
