Every year on the night of my birthday, my cousin sister taps on my window, in a special pattern which only the two of us know.

I can hear her faint whistling of 'Happy Birthday'.

I don't let her in. Not since she died in a plane crash 7 years ago.

He quietly locked himself in his room as the scenes of her funeral a year ago replayed in his mind.

I was leafing through old photographs when my mom came and sat beside me.

"I never liked that dress of yours" she said, pointing to a photo.

I looked down at it. It showed me standing next to my dad and my sister at my mom's 5th death anniversary.

Why I Write

Because if I don't let out the magically awesome ideas whirring around in my brain, I will go barking mad in 0.01 seconds.

The Simple Beautiful Things

Moonlight nights
Starry skies
The smell of pine
Morning sunshine
Chocolate cakes
Beaches and lakes
A hand to hold
Empty roads
Butterflies
Carefree smiles
Fresh flowers
The midnight hour
Your first kiss
The winter mist
Warm fires
The mountain air
The sound of rain
Passing trains
Feeling safe

That’s all we ever need
