I had the scars to paint.
He had colours left over.
That’s how we spent a perfect date.

The kind of love that embraces you like a lullaby.
The kind of love that warms the cold of your bones.
The kind of love that gives way to your wild.
I hope you learn to love yourself with every ounce of that.

The way rhythm flows through the words,
syllables jumping with the thrill of the dawn.
It takes me back to our first Hello.
Will you calm my nerves and tell me,
is this poem about me?

Each letter is as intoxicating as our first Kiss.
Together they resemble us,
effortless, simple, dancing around in the Fall.
Will you soothe my anticipation and tell me,
is this poem about us?

Even if it’s a trance,
just for the day,
can you play along and tell me,
yes, this poem is about our love.

It’s okay if you have been fighting for a long time
and the pain still comes back and haunts you sometimes.
Your weak days do not make the entire battle obsolete.

Dark, starless, infamous night.
Inspiration of so many melancholic poems.
Today, it’s the usual dark,
yet I am inclined to write something jolly.

Though the sky is as silent as the grave,
the heart is full, eyes are wet
and lips curved into a smile.

I am starting that happy chapter,
that new story.
Penned under the same stillness
yet glowing with every ounce of light.

Who cares if the words do not rhyme today?
Or it doesn’t ignite a fire.
They are still protecting me from the cold
and the ask was no more.

It never really was about the quietness of the hour
and the austerity of the trees.
It was about looking at the same sky
and being willing to be free.

At times, I look up at the stars with a smile
as effortless as the dawn
for this life would have been in vain had I not fallen hard for those unsullied eyes

Home dances with our morning.
Cinnamon takes over the smell of coffee.
I lean over your shoulders,
eggs giggle over the pan,
as I take a bite of you.

Music echoes deep into the bones.
I twirl around in fun,
sway across the hall,
absorbing every ounce of flavour.

I tasted the love I read about.

Scrolling through the palette of burns,
I grin at the beauty of grey.
It shines through its gloominess.
Dances under the bits of light.

It leaves me confused.
Which grey should I write about?

I roll back on my toes,
smiling at the dilemma.
The sky got darker,
embarrassed at not having an answer.

I collected five.
Placed them under the dark.
Rust filled the air as the cold tone diluted.
I chose the one nearer to the stars.

I am happy as a flower,
pirouetting with the sonnets in the wind,
smile doesn't leave my skin,
I dance under the shade of love.

Blue and then yellow,
a butterfly changes its colour.
I follow it through the tone of green.
Intoxicated by the fluttering wings,
I don’t want this to end.
Our symphony.
Our celebration of freedom.

I feel lighter; half my weight.
Yet the heart is full.
Drunk on the freshly acquired breath.
Each beat briskly follows another,
throbbing and pulsating in rhythm.

With the baggage,
I removed the dead stone
from the nape of my neck.
There's no rush to fill the gap.
There's hope.
There's the will to be the freest I can.
